Last week my roommates and I made our own pineapple vodka. Yup, you heard me right. Instead of paying the extra 7 or so bucks for flavored vodka, we bought a pineapple and the cheapest vodka we could find and put them together in a jar. We “unveiled” this concoction last night and it was a revelation.
Homemade Pineapple Vodka
750 ml cheap vodka
1 ripe pineapple, cut into large chunks
1 large glass jug/jar
Add the vodka, pineapple chunks and any juices left on your cutting board to your jar and stir all of the ingredients together. Close the jar tightly and store it in a cool spot for 1 week. Open after the week is up and enjoy!
You can enjoy this vodka simply shaken with ice and then divided into shooter glasses. For a fun and tropical drink, fill a shaker 3/4 of the way with the vodka, 1/8 with coconut milk and 1/8 with pineapple juice. Shake with 5-7 ice cubes and pour into martini glasses with a squeeze of lime and a wedge for garnish. The pineapple vodka would also taste delicious with cranberry-raspberry juice or as the vodka base of a pineapple-y cosmopolitan.
